3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Material. Materials of construction shall be of the best quality
and entirely suitable for the intended application.
3.1.1 Synthetic rubbers.
3.1.1.1 Insulation, Synthetic rubber compunds used in the insula-
tion shall be butadiene-styrene copolymer (SBR), chlorosulphonated poly-
ethylene having an insulation resistance K factor of not less than 1500
(Hypalon-20 or equal), or a combination thereof. They shall have high
insulation resistance, flexibility and tensile strength. They shall have
high heat and water resistance and vulcanize readily to natural rubber
and to other synthetic rubber compounds used in the cable sheath.
3.1.1.2 Jacket. Synthetic rubber compounds used in the jacket with
be polychloroprene or chlorosulphonated polyethylene. They shall be tough
